Drawing a Range Wall Elevation with Framed Cabinets Using Copy, Extend, and Mirror Commands Efficiently

Now we're ready to turn the corner and draw the cabinets and counters for the range wall. Now if we look at our hearth wall we have a good bit of spacing right here before this range wall and so if we have that spacing we can sometimes just start our cabinets and work our way across, especially if they're framed out cabinets. So let's do that this time and kind of show that different technique.

What we're going to do is start with our hearth wall. We're going to grab our section profile, grab both of our countertop lines, our drawer line, and our toe kick line. That should be pretty good for now and we'll do CO to copy, grab that bottom left corner, click, come down to our range wall bottom left corner and click.

There we go, that's a good starting point. Let's go ahead and hit escape and we'll delete this spacing line for now and we will use EX for extend and we'll extend that line over and we'll extend all of these lines over as well, left to right. All right, that looks pretty good.

We'll hit escape. Now we need our 21 inch cabinet. Let's go ahead and go to layer and we're going to go to a case eleve, double click, make that the current layer, and we'll type in the line command L-I-N-E, click on the face of our profile with ortho turned on, go to the right, type in 21 inches, and go straight out.

Delete that spacing line and use EX for extend and there it is. We've got our 21 inch base and again it's right up against this cabinet but there's a space going the other direction so sometimes you can do that and we're showing kind of both ways to do it. Now let's go ahead and copy this line down.

We want 21 inches this time, 21 inches, enter, and 21 inches again. We got three in a row that are 21. All right, that looks pretty good and now we're going to do 24 inch base cabinets.

We'll copy this one over 24 inches and we could start the copy command again or do some math and we'll type in 48 inches for our other cabinet. Now we were smart and we did leave spacing at the end and if we did start here tight we want to leave that space so we'll trim right here and get rid of that drawer line. Okay that looks pretty good, pretty quick, we're in good shape.

Now you guessed it we've got to draw in our door swing so go back to layer and we want a case swing, double click there and we'll start with our B21. We'll draw a line, start here at the top, click, and then our M2P, enter, click our top point and our base point, there we go, and then back to the first line where we began. There we go, let's keep going.

The line command is still active, actually we don't need to, we can copy. Let's hit escape, we'll select this guy, CO to copy, and we'll just copy it across, click, and we're good. Hit escape, select it, now we'll do mirror and we'll click right here, point to point, click, and enter, and that's the mirror command.

Now these bases are different so we'll have to start the line command again, L-I-N-E, start here, and good luck we don't have to use the M2P command because we already have a line there for our door swing. We'll just click right there in the end point and then back to that first line and hit escape. To be efficient we'll use the mirror command, mirror this door swing across, enter, and we are good.

Just like that we have our range wall elevation.
