Designing Sprinkler Systems in Section View: Detailing the Corridor Layout and Connection Process

Learn how to effectively build a 3D model with a specific focus on creating sections and corridors. This article provides detailed steps and practical advice to make the most out of your 3D modeling project, from the initial design to the final touch-ups.

Key Insights

  • The article provides detailed guidance on creating a 3D model, including generating sections and corridors, and arranging elements between doorways.
  • It offers practical instructions on how to adjust the view and manipulate dimensions, assuring that you can make as much room as necessary for your model.
  • The article also addresses the importance and technique of matching elevations, suggesting effective use of the align tool in the section view and how to troubleshoot when challenges arise.

Let's move down to the next section with the corridor. Make sure we cover this row, and we'll get these as well between the doorways. And let's go all the way over to here.

That looks good. All right, back in our section view. Starting at Level 2, you can pull this over.

Feel free to make as much room as you need on either screen for your Window Tile. Now this sprinkler looks like we can just connect right into the main. So let's go draw pipe (1 inch), and delete the dimension.

Now we've talked about matching the elevation. Sometimes the Align tool will work in the section view, and sometimes it won't. Let's try typing AL.

If I find the center of the sprinkler there and align it—there we go. If I try to pull it in and it doesn't want to connect, we'll have to go back to the plan view. And there we go.

Okay, let's go back to the section and down to Level 1. Okay, almost there. Let's drag our section down.

Let's start over here, including this lower portion of the corridor sprinklers near the doorways. Okay, starting on Level 2. This looks like it's above the ceiling, but that's at the corridor at a higher elevation, since we just can't see it clearly through the section view.

All right, one row left. We're almost there.
