This course uses Revit tools to design and create a fire suppression system in a real-world educational facility. By the end of this course, students will create a coordinated model of a fire sprinkler system within the building. Students will master the tools Revit has for MEP and will develop workflows that are consistent across disciplines within the industry. Finally, students will convert their 3D model into a set of construction sheets to illustrate their design on a two-dimensional set of plans.
Your instructor is a Certified Autodesk Instructor and is a practicing BIM Coordinator who has many years experience working in Fire Protection Design. This course is designed to teach students with an interest in Fire Protection Design and construction.
Topics include sprinkler system overview and sheet setup, modeling sprinklers and piping in classrooms, as well as corridors, and creating annotations and construction documents.

Work on projects proven to boost retention
Refined over many years for an optimal learning experience
This training will definitely help my career. I was able to show my supervisor and co-workers what Revit has to offer and what I'm capable of when the time comes for creating that BIM Team in the future. I was able to provide documentation to my employer that the money spent was well worth it and the training I received at VDCI will become an asset moving forward.

The Fire Protection Design course provides students with an indepth understanding of designing, modeling, and documenting fire protection systems in Autodesk Revit. This course covers sprinkler system layouts, piping networks, water supply connections, and fire protection documentation, ensuring compliance with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) codes and industry standards.
By completing this course, you will:
This lesson introduces students to fire protection project setup, including system templates, levels, and views.
Project: Link an architectural model, set up fire protection system views, and configure zones for a fire sprinkler layout.
Students will explore sprinkler system configurations, including different types of fire protection approaches.
Project: Design a wetpipe sprinkler system layout, integrating zone mapping and coverage calculations.
This lesson covers the placement of sprinkler heads and pipe routing for fire protection systems.
Project: Model a fire sprinkler system, connecting sprinkler heads to a pressurized water supply.
Students will focus on placing fire sprinklers and piping within classrooms, corridors, and common areas.
Project: Design and layout corridor and classroom sprinkler piping, ensuring even water distribution.
This lesson covers fire protection design for mechanical rooms, stairwells, and service areas.
Project: Design a fire suppression system for mechanical rooms and stairwells, integrating standpipe risers and fire department connections.
The final lesson focuses on finalizing fire protection drawings, annotations, and sheet layouts.
Project: Create a fully annotated and documented fire protection drawing set, ensuring compliance with NFPA codes and industry standards.
