Creating Piping and Reflected Ceiling Plans for Construction Documents

Arranging Piping Plans and Reflected Ceiling Plans on Sheets

Discover the step-by-step process of creating construction documents, with a focus on piping and reflected ceiling plans. Learn how to correctly scale and place plans onto sheets, ensuring a clear and comprehensive construction document.

Key Insights

  • The article provides a detailed walkthrough for creating level one and two piping plans and reflected ceiling plans as part of construction documents.
  • It emphasizes the importance of correct scaling for plans, suggesting that a scale of three 30 seconds of an inch equals one foot can be suitable for ensuring comprehensibility while fitting the entire building onto a single sheet.
  • The article also demonstrates the process of including additional elements such as sprinkler legends into the construction documents, and adjusting these elements to ensure clarity and readability.

All right, so we're nearing the end of creating our construction documents. In the last video, we did our sprinkler legends. So let's go down to our sheets in the project browser and start creating our piping and reflected ceiling plans.

So let's open up the FP3 level one piping plan. And what we can do is scroll up to our floor plans and let's go to the level one piping plan and we're just going to drag it onto our sheet. Okay, for now, just set it anywhere in the middle of the sheet.

Looks good. And if you see in the floor plans here, now this filled in square is letting us know that this view is on a sheet. So let's do the same thing for level two.

We will go to our sheets and go to, I can minimize this. This is just telling us that we have the floor plan level one on this sheet. So let's open up the FP4 level two piping plan.

And now we'll bring our level two piping plan and drag it onto our sheet. Okay, just somewhere here for now. Great.

Let's go to FP5 level one reflected ceiling plan and find our level one reflected ceiling plan and bring it onto our sheet. Now here we'll see this is a little big for our sheet. So I'm going to drop it right here.

And what I need to do is we're going to make sure we have the viewport properties. The view scale is set to one eighth of an inch equals one foot, but that's a little large for this building to have all on one sheet. So let's go ahead and change that to three 30 seconds of an inch equals one foot to match our piping plans.

There we go. Now we'll just drag this somewhere in the middle for now. Now we also created our sprinkler legends.

So let's find that under schedule and quantities level one sprinkler legend. Just drag it over here and drop it in the corner. Okay.

Now temperature has been cut off a bit. So let's pull this over and drag it. Now that we can see each category clearly, that looks good.

Okay, let's do one more. We'll open our FP6 level two reflected ceiling plan and go on ahead, find our level two reflected ceiling plan drawing and drag it onto our sheet. Now we're seeing the same instance here.

It's one eighth of an inch because one foot scale. The problem is now I am unable to change that. And that's because we were using our reflected ceiling plan view template that we created.

So what we'll have to do is go into it and let's set the scale to three 30 seconds. There we go. Okay.

In our last sheet, FP7 building sections, we haven't created those yet. So in the next video, we'll put those together and we'll have our last sheet.
