Placing Kitchen Appliances and Plumbing Fixtures in Elevations Using AutoCAD for Interior Design

Let's have some fun and bring in our appliances and plumbing fixtures to our elevations. We're going to need to open up our AutoCAD for Interior Design, Residential Blocks. And in that file, we're going to look at this Appliance panel first.

First, let's grab our Fridge-LF for Elevation. We'll copy that with CTRL C, go back to our project, and right here we're going to do CTRL V to paste. We'll click maybe just off to the side for now.

There is our Fridge. Now we will select it and go to Properties. And we'll change its layer.

Currently the layer is set to Layer 0. We want our A-APPL for Appliances. Once it's on the correct layer, let's go ahead and do M for Move. And we want to grab this midpoint at the bottom of the refrigerator.

And we'll click one time. And now we want to go to the crown molding. You might ask, why is that? Simply because it has a midpoint we can use.

We'll click right there, and now we know it's centered in this overall space. We will select it again and use M for Move. And this time grab one of its bottom corners, bring it straight down to perpendicular, and click.

And now we've placed our refrigerator centered perfectly in its place. Now let's go back to our blocks. This time let's roll across and look for DWELEV, which is our dishwasher elevation.

We'll select it, CTRL C on the keyboard, go back to our project, and here's where it goes. We will do CTRL V to paste. And this one actually has a really good control point, so we can go right and place it exactly where it belongs.

We will click right here against the base of the toe kick and click. And there is our dishwasher. All we have to do is set it to the correct layer, so we will select it.

Then over in Properties, we'll change the layer to our AAPPL. There we go. We've got dishwasher, refrigerator.

Our range goes right here next to that refrigerator. So let's go there now. Back to blocks.

We're looking for range 36 LEV, select it, CTRL C. It's a pretty thin thing when you look at it directly from the front, but that's okay. We'll do CTRL V to paste right here.

We will select it and we'll change its layer to AAPPL. And M for move. We're going to grab right at that midpoint right there or the insertion point.

The insertion point is the midpoint. We'll click. And we want to go to this center of our cabinet doors and click there.

Now it's right there kind of in front of the counters right now, but we needed to find that midpoint. Now let's move it up into place. I'll click.

I'll do M for move. I'll grab that left corner to avoid confusion. Click and go straight up to perpendicular and click.

Now it's sitting on top of our counter. All right. Now we need to add in our sink.

Let's go over to our blocks. And now we're looking for plumbing fixtures. Right here there's a sink category.

We want our sink Kitch LEV. For kitchen sink elevation, we'll select it, CTRL C. And then go back to our project, CTRL V to paste.

And we'll just click out here in space a little bit. Click one time. Select it.

Change its layer. Now this is not an appliance. It's a plumbing fixture.

So I want to scroll down. Look for P fixed. P fixed.

And there's a P fixed sink. That's the one we want. We'll click that.

P fixed sink. And we'll use the M command to move. Grab right on its center base.

Click one time. And I want to go right to that cabinet door center. Click.

And that centers it on the cabinets. Now I'll select it and M for move again. Click its base and go straight to the top of the counter.

And there it is. We've got our appliances and our kitchen sink. It's an excellent time to hit that save button.
