Determining the Scale for Detail 02 Original: A Step-by-Step Guide

Adjusting Text and Leaders in Detail 02 Original: Fine-Tuning the Scale and Formatting

Delve into the intricate aspects of opening, saving and detailing designs with specified scales. Discover how to manage layers, adjust scale factors, convert text, and apply accurate formatting with precision and control.

Key Insights

  • The article demonstrates how to open and save files while determining and adjusting the scale of designs, ensuring that the detail fits the available space optimally.
  • Text conversion and formatting play a significant role in refining the design; the article shows how to convert standard text into M text and move it to the desired location.
  • Efficient layer and color management, including the use of Express Tools and Format Point Style, are essential for the successful completion and saving of the design project.

Let's begin our next detail. Let's go File, Open. And let's slide down and choose Detail 02 Original.

And then File, Save As, Detail 02. Well, it appears that we have similar things to concern ourselves with. We need to determine the scale.

We need to look at the text. Look at the leaders. And go from there.

So let's start off by bringing our title block in. I'm on layer 0. I, Spacebar for Insert. Go to Browse.

Slide down. Detail 1 × 1. And let's try it at the scale factor of 4 that we had last time. It's saying what's the scale.

Let's just say for right now, 3 inches equals a foot. Insert detail name to our rated wall.

Zoom extents. There it is. If I go Move Window from here down to here.

Can you see that the information being provided really, really requires more space. So to draw the detail at an inch and a half equals a foot is not appropriate. I'm going to hit Escape.

So I'll say scale SC from 0,0. A scale factor of 2. Zoom extents. Zoom real time. Save the file.

If I now go Move Window from there down to there, it looks much better. So what I know is my scale is no longer 3 inches equals a foot. Instead, it's an inch and a half equals a foot.

I'll double-click on it. It says what's the scale. Back out 1. 1-1/2 inches equals a foot.

So what we have now is a detail that is smaller than what we had before. Move Window. I'll say from the intersection of here.

Zoom in. Nearest to here. Control+S to save.

I have dots from the previous library. Erase Window. Save.

Zoom back. Erase Window. And save.

Zoom extents. Layer colors. LA for layer.

Title block wants to be color 120. Text wants to be color 120. Zoom extents.

And save the file. I'd like to convert my text into Mtext. Express Tools.

Convert to Mtext. Select. Select.

Enter. Spacebar to repeat. Pick.

Pick. Pick. Pick.

Spacebar to repeat. Pick. Pick.

Spacebar to repeat. Spacebar. And one last time.

And convert. Control+S to save. What I can now do is move the text.

Move Window. From the insertion point of the text. To the node.

Control+S to save. Now just to let you know, if I go to Format Point Style, the points right now are as a dot.

As opposed to the X that we've seen before. I'm going to move the text. From the insertion point of the text.

To the node of here. Move the text.

From the insertion base point of the text to the node. I'm going to say there.

I'm going to go to Format Point Style. And I'll change my PD Mode, which is Point Style mode, to a 3, so I can see it.

RE for regen. Back off. RE for regen.

Even closer. RE for regen. Move the text.

From the insertion base point of the text to the node of here.

Move the text from the insertion base point of the text to the node of here. Back off. Control+S to save.

One thing about the text being Mtext is if I need to, I can always click on the arrow over here to reposition how the text appears.

Backspace. Control+S to save. I really don't need to have my PD Mode style in the position 3 anymore. Format Point Style. Go back to the dot.

Control+S to save. And there we are.

And you can see that the next thing we're going to have to tackle will be our M Leaders.
