Hello, my name is Will Tenney and today I'm going to show you how to download and install SolidWorks so that we can use it for this course. Step one will be to go to this website and complete the community download form. Step two will be to run the installation manager and this will guide you through the download process.
I'm going to copy this, paste it into a new page, and it should bring you to this SolidWorks community download instructions page. Go ahead and fill out all the cells. This last cell is optional, but if you choose to fill it out, go ahead and select student.
I will select teacher. It'll ask you if you have a serial number that starts with 9020. The answer is yes.
Make sure to have that handy and then it'll ask you which SolidWorks version you wish to download. Select the latest, which in this case is 2025. Once you've done that, click request download, then accept and continue, and then download.
You can see in the upper right hand corner there is a new download in process. You can see in the upper right hand corner there's a new download in progress. We'll go ahead and wait for that to complete before we continue.
Now it's saved it, likely in a download folder. You can go ahead and move it to a new location on your desktop if you like or in a new folder that you create, but once you've double-clicked it as I've done just then, it'll bring up this little window here where you will select unzip. We are now beginning the installation process.
Yes, you do want to make changes to your device. All right, I'm going to go ahead and minimize this. Here we go.
I have an installation in progress, so I'm going to continue that installation. You will be starting a new installation. Just follow the prompts and it'll get you where you need to be.
You'll want to install on this computer your computer. Once you've selected that, click next. It'll bring you to this new page where it asks you to input the serial number code that you were given into the features of the SolidWorks program you wish to activate.
In this case, we're just going to activate the program SolidWorks, which is in this first drop-down tab that says 3D design. So make sure that blue check mark is checked and go ahead and put in your special code. Once you've pasted your alphanumeric code into that first zone here where it says SolidWorks, click next.
So I'm getting a special notification that says I already have SolidWorks on this device. That is true, but I'm downloading this new educational kit in addition to that. So I will go ahead and select yes to continue without removing the other installations.
You likely did not have this window pop up, so you should be able to move on right to the next page. All right, continue to click next. You should land on this page that says installation options.
You want to create a new installation of SolidWorks 2025. It's going to let us know the products that we're going to be downloading with this new installation. We will make sure that we have SolidWorks available and visualize and visualize boost.
Let's go ahead and close that. We're just making sure these all look the way that they should. Download and install, yes.
Installation location. It will select a folder on your device that is appropriate for downloading all of the metadata that comes with the SolidWorks program. Beautiful.
Accept the terms of SolidWorks license agreement, then click download and install. Allow the time it needs to install all the programs, and we will continue when it is completed. So once the installation is completed, you'll be prompted to join the SolidWorks customer experience improvement program.
