Creating a Visual Fitness Equipment Schedule with Room Sorting and Cost Formatting in Revit

For our fitness center equipment schedule we're going to go to our view tab, schedules, schedule slash quantities, and the equipment is under specialty equipment. So I'll just hit s here and then I can scroll down until I find specialty equipment here and now we're ready to create it. So I'll hit okay and then we can pick the different elements we want and so one of the ones we want is we want rooms so I'll go ahead and change this available fields from specialty equipment to room and the only one I want here is room name so I'll add that parameter.

Then I'm going to switch it back to specialty equipment and then I'll go here and add the items I want and so we're going to add them in whatever order and then we'll adjust it here in a second. We'll go with cost, count, description, and then family and so the order I want this in I'm going to leave room name at the front but I'm going to go ahead and move family up and then I want to move description up so that my order is room name, family, description, cost, and then count and then we'll go ahead and hit ok. When you look at the families that got pulled in here all of them seem pretty appropriate except for one.

So what we can do here is I can go into my filter and I can say room name does not equal study because I don't want that in this schedule this is for fitness equipment and so I'm going to change this instead of specialty equipment schedule we'll call it fitness equipment schedule and then we can go ahead and add the different descriptions in here. So I'm going to use the description for like the exercise bike for instance we'll type in the values that we want and I'm really just going to call it the manufacturer's name for each of these things and so this one is going to be a peloton and these are type parameters so every time we do that we'll get that value or that pop-up box and then we'll hit ok because then it'll just fill out the rest of them for us and the value we're going to assign to this is 1500 and then we'll just do the same thing for the rest of them here. So our treadmill is going to be a nordic track 1750 and this is going to be 1999 and then I'll just call this an adjustable weight bench and that one's $440.

Now that I have the schedule set up the way that I'd like it to I'll just kind of move this around a little bit so I can see things a little better but we can go through and we can actually sort this by room if we wanted to so I could say sorting grouping and I can sort by room name and if I give it a header what it'll do is it'll make it so that this classroom heading will become my header for that and then so in the formatting tab I can essentially tell room name to be a hidden field and that way it won't show up twice. The other thing we can do here from formatting is we can give cost the appropriate formatting so right now it's just a number without the dollar sign or anything like that on it. If we were on so if I go to cost here what I can do is I can actually go to field format and from here we can actually uncheck use project settings and then I can give it the unit symbol of the dollar sign.

Everything else looks good and I can hit okay and hit okay again and now we've got everything sorted the way we want. The cost should probably sort to the right so the decimal places line up so we can just pop in over to the properties here to formatting and then you can see when I click on cost the alignment's set to left but I can change that to right and I can hit okay and then it'll set those up the way that we were hoping to see them and so the next thing we can do is just so that everything's using the same view template is I can go ahead and set the view template to schedule typical and that way this schedule will look the same as all my other ones. We can jump over to our ID 301 sheet and I can go ahead and find my fitness equipment schedule and go ahead and drag that over here and then we'll stretch everything out so that it's a little bit more easy to see and so it kind of matches some of these other ones in here as well and so here is our fitness equipment schedule and there's one more thing that we're going to take a look at here on this and that is we can add an image of each of these items so it looks more like a true equipment schedule so I'm going to jump back over to that schedule there and I'll go to fields and at the bottom or close to the bottom here we can see image and so I'll add that and this is something I'm going to want to have towards the front so it'll be my first field in this list so I want that to be the first one and I'll hit okay and what we can do here is I can go in and I can actually click on this I can click on this into the field here and I can click on the browse button and it's going to show me the images that are loaded into the project and so if I click add I can navigate to where I have the images saved on my computer and within here I've got a few saved from some of the other things we've done but I can select the different items that we're going to use here so I grabbed exercise bike treadmill and weight bench and you can see all three of those load in so I'm on the exercise bike here so I'll click on exercise bike and then it'll load that image in and I just have to place it for each one of these and right now when we're in the schedule mode all you're seeing is the text that represents the image and so when I get through all these guys here we'll be able to check it out on our schedule and so the treadmill is part of a group and so it's telling me essentially you can't make a change outside of group edit mode to the element here and so I'll just hit ungroup and we might have to do that on a couple of these but that's going to be okay because that's no longer needed to be grouped anyway and so I just need to make sure I get the proper image on each one of these items and then we'll jump over to that id 301 and you can see here our schedule now includes an image and I can adjust this you can make it as large as you want I would probably advise against that because some of these are probably pretty low quality images as you can see here but this works for pretty much any family that that you're working with and it allows you to create a schedule kind of like I've done here where we have the images of what we're calling out based upon and sorted by the room as well so now if we wanted to cut this down on some of the repetition you can see we've got six treadmills and five or six bikes here we don't necessarily need to show the same information over and over again so what I could do is I can go back to my schedule and in this case we can go ahead and we can jump into our sorting grouping tab and what I'm going to do is I'm going to change this so we've got room name and then I can sort by family and then I'll go ahead and uncheck this itemize every instance and what it'll do is it'll reduce it down to just one of each of these families so we have one instance of each one and this is the reason why we had that count option in there and so we can adjust this around a little bit maybe count doesn't go last we'll go ahead and move that one up and now you can see we've got our unit costs and we've got our total count across these as well and so if we go back to our sheet this is much more manageable and there could definitely be more description in here like needs a power outlet or provide a certain amount of space around the unit so that it works whatever data you want to put in here is totally fine but that gets us a pretty cool look at a equipment schedule obviously this can be used for multiple different things this could also apply to a furniture schedule as well and having images of the different furniture or fixture elements and accessories that you have within a project
