Welcome to Revit and Twinmotion interior rendering BIM 371. I'm Derek and I'll be your instructor for this course. I'm a senior designer, director, and architect and I use Twinmotion almost daily in my workflow from early concept development to final presentations, renderings, virtual reality, animations, all kinds of things.

I've been using Twinmotion for close to seven, eight years since the early introduction and the program and software itself has evolved and has blossomed into a truly an incredible kind of experience. So this course is designed to help designers and visualization professionals quickly build stunning real-time visuals using Twinmotions. So whether you're rendering for clients, producing animations, or preparing immersive walkthroughs, Twinmotion can help you do all of it effectively and efficiently.

This course is divided into focus lessons. Each lesson includes short videos covering specific tools and workflows. You may have to go back to the early lesson courses as you're actually doing the assignments and the deliverables, but I highly recommend you take a lot of notes and you pay close attention to the first couple lessons where we really go into all the tools, all the tricks, all the techniques to create these beautiful renderings.

As you can see on the splash page for Twinmotion,  you can utilize it for residential, for commercial, for product design, all kinds of things that could be utilized. So it's not only a one-size-fits-all type approach. You can utilize it in lots of different ways.

We're going to focus it primarily on the architecture side of things, how to create buildings, interiors, exteriors, all that. So for lesson one, our objectives that we want to cover would be, you know, how to download and install Twinmotion, how to set it up,  how to create the Epic Games account, and then how do we navigate the Twinmotion interface,  how does it work with Revit. You want to understand the key tool categories using the navigation tools,  seeing what's new in the new version of Twinmotion, setting up a scene, opening your first project,  and then organizing your scene using layer management.

Then at the end of this lesson one,  you should be fully equipped to start creating inside Twinmotion. Then as we move into the future lessons, we're going to be actually creating renderings. I'm going to show you an example of what we're going to be creating in this course, just as a little sneak peek, sneak preview of some of these renderings.

So these are some renderings that we're taking, you know, we want to do some really fun and energetic scenes. We'll be creating three essential scenes like this,  a bit of a small residential condo unit showing the kitchen, the living areas,  kind of focusing primarily on the interior side of things. There will be subsequent courses that will go through exterior animations and whatnot, but for this course we're primarily going to focus on interior renderings through Revit.

So before moving on, let's make sure you have everything installed and ready to go. So Twinmotion is owned by Epic Games. If you go to Epic Games,  their primary site, you know, you can type in epic, E-P-I-C-G-A-M-E-S dot com.

That'll go into this store, Epic Games. As you can see, Epic Games is a gaming company. They own Fortnite,  they own a lot of other games, but they also distribute other games onto their platform.

So um, but they, they are the company that has came up with and owns Fortnite. So there's a lot of money behind it, a lot of success. And so if you go to the main Epic Games site, you can click here.

They own Fortnite, Rocket League, Fall Guys, as well as some of these other applications. Sketch Fab, which we'll be utilizing, which is a 3D model warehouse, essentially where people can upload their 3D products and utilize it. But there's also Unreal Engine, which is a render engine that is utilized for a lot of games.

So a lot of games utilize Unreal Engine as their 3D model of choice. So it's an, it's an incredible software. It's a little more cumbersome to use than Twinmotion, but there is a nice synergy between Twinmotion and Unreal Engine if you were to take some of your images to the next level.

They have a lot of other Unreal Engine products, but we're going to focus on Twinmotion. So you go to Epic Games and you go to Twinmotion and click Twinmotion here. This will open up this, this splash page that we were just at in the beginning.

You want to click get Twinmotion. And then here, this is where you're going to want to download the launcher. So you click download the launcher.

You want to put it in a downloads folder. So as that loads, one thing that you will need to do is you will need to create an account for Epic Games. So you can either sign in if you currently, if you currently have an account,  or you can create a new account.

I currently have an account, so I will log into my current account. Once you have the, the launcher downloaded, you can go into your downloads folder and you can install the Epic installer. If you go through that process, I currently have it installed.

And so it looks something like this. So once you're kind of in your main kind of splash page, it looks like this. Here, you would want to again, log into the account that you just created.

Then if you go into Unreal Engine on the left right here, you will see a category at Twinmotion at the top. This is where you can install Twinmotion 2025. It is free to use for education purposes and for commercial projects under $1 million.

So keep that in mind as you're doing it. There is a subscription and a purchase which gives you additional features such as cloud rendering and cloud hosting, which we can talk about later in this course. But for this case,  we're going to want to do download the 2025.1.1. This is the current one that we're going to be using for this course.

This course may be live for, you know, multiple years. And so this may be outdated. However, if there is any sort of major changes, I will create additional videos outlining the new improvements that, you know, the future upgrades will provide.

So in 2026,  2027, etc., etc. So here, instead of launch, this will say install. So you'll want to install Twinmotion.

And then once that's once that's done, you can click launch, and it'll open up Twinmotion. So once everything is installed, open the Twinmotion and meet me in the next video where we'll walk through the interface and start building the scene.
