Explore the nuances of creating building sections in architectural design, with an emphasis on effectively conveying information at different scales. Understand the importance of keynotes, revision bubbles, sheet notes, and legends in creating comprehensive and cohesive building sections.
Key Insights
- Building sections can be presented at varying scales depending on the amount of information to be conveyed. For instance, sections might be at 3 16ths of an inch or a quarter of an inch scale.
- Reference points such as labeled pages can be used to provide further information on elements identified in the building sections.
- Keynotes, revision bubbles, sheet notes, and legends play a crucial role in detailing the building sections and ensuring the necessary information is relayed accurately and efficiently.

I hope that you're learning a lot. We have just finished talking about building sections, so again here I'm showing two building sections on this page and two others on this page. I have another third section, which is the slice that is going through the music room.
One thing you will notice is that the scale of these sections here, which is 3/16 of an inch, which is what we needed to convey this amount of information on the drawing, is at a different scale from this section, which is at 1/4 of an inch, because again we're conveying less information. When I back up, once again I can see that if we want to learn more about the information that's identified here, we would go to the page that's labeled right here. On this page, once again, we have our keynotes.
You can see the keynotes are right there. You can see any bubbles that we've indicated for revisions. We have notes relative to this sheet, and we have our legends.
So this has been a pretty good coverage of building sections.
