Welcome to the Introduction to Reading Plans for Residential Construction. In this course, we will start from the beginning and guide you through the process of understanding what plans and building documents entail. In this course, we will study two residences: one is a four-bedroom house on a very simple flat lot.

The other house is a three-bedroom house on several floors, located on a very complex lot. We will learn a lot of interesting information. We will learn about the types of documents required by regulatory agencies to be included in the building document set.

We will gain a deeper understanding of the different professional disciplines involved in the creation of building documents. Architects, structural engineers, civil engineers, and, in some cases, mechanical and electrical engineers. We will also learn about the different types of drawings included in a set of plans.
