Autodesk Certified Instructors and Users

What is a Certified Instructor?

An Autodesk Certified Instructor (ACI) is a professional who has earned the distinction of being officially recognized by Autodesk for their expertise in teaching Autodesk software. At VDCI, all of our instructors are Autodesk Certified Instructors. This certification is not only a testament to their teaching abilities but also reflects their deep understanding of Autodesk software, particularly AutoCAD, which they use in their daily professional work.

Our Autodesk Certified Instructors are also seasoned industry professionals. They bring practical, real-world experience to the classroom, preparing construction documents for a variety of projects in commercial, educational, and residential sectors. With hands-on knowledge of industry workflows and the ability to tackle complex design challenges, these instructors ensure that students receive the most relevant and up-to-date training possible

How do I become an Autodesk Certified Professional?

Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) certifications are designed for experienced industry professionals who have advanced skills in Autodesk software. These professionals can confidently handle complex challenges and workflows, particularly in fields like architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC).

To earn an ACP certification, candidates typically need to have at least 2 years of hands-on experience working with Autodesk software in a professional setting. This is equivalent to approximately 400 hours of practical use but is often recommended to be closer to 1,200 hours for comprehensive mastery. The certification is intended for those who are ready to prove their ability to solve sophisticated problems, streamline workflows, and optimize the design process using Autodesk products.

To earn your ACP certification, you will need to take an exam that tests your knowledge and expertise with Autodesk software. These exams are available at Pearson VUE Testing Centers or can be taken remotely through OnVUE, Pearson VUE’s online proctored service. The exams are designed to be rigorous, with a 120-minute time limit to complete the test. Upon successful completion, candidates receive an official Autodesk certification and a digital badge that can be displayed on resumes, portfolios, and social media platforms, giving you a credential that is recognized globally within the AEC industry.

How do I become an Autodesk Certified User?

The Autodesk Certified User (ACU) program is designed for students, entry-level professionals, or those new to Autodesk software. This certification offers individuals an opportunity to validate their foundational skills and knowledge of Autodesk products, including software like Fusion 360, AutoCAD, and Revit. The program is a great starting point for those looking to build a career in design and engineering.

The certification exam is available through Certiport, which partners with over 14,000 testing centers worldwide. The ACU program is accessible to students, educators, and professionals alike. The exam focuses on fundamental concepts and skills, offering a pathway to build confidence in using Autodesk software and positioning candidates for career advancement in design and engineering fields.

By passing the ACU exam, candidates receive a certification that can be used to demonstrate their technical aptitude to potential employers. This certification serves as a foundation for further development in Autodesk software skills, including the possibility of pursuing the more advanced Autodesk Certified Professional certification down the line.
