Preparing Revisions in Revit: Adding Final Revisions to Sheets

Implementing Final Revisions and Adjusting Sheet Index in Revit

Discover the process for adding revisions to your sheets in Revit, including managing your sheet index. Learn how to select and add final revisions to all sheets in the set to ensure you have a complete and updated project.

Key Insights

  • The process for adding revisions to sheets in Revit involves going to the view tab, selecting revisions, and adding a new revision. This can be done for all sheets in the set.
  • Keep in mind that adding revisions may disrupt your sheet index. This can be resolved by editing the sheet index, adjusting the filter to include all created sheets.
  • Although third-party plugins can be used to automate this process, understanding how to manually manage revisions and the sheet index can provide better control over your project updates.

Now that we have all of our sheets ready to go, our next step here is going to be to get those revisions in place. So the first thing we want to do, go to our view tab, revisions, and add the new revision. We'll add the revision.

This one's going to be final. We'll have midterm and final. And then we're going to add final to all of the sheets in the set.

So starting with title sheet, I'm going to add this revision and then work my way through. And it's not required to have them open or anything. You just need to make sure you select them.

And one of the things that we're lobbying to get them to add here is to be able to select them all and add it. But we do use a third party plugin in our office to make sure we get them, them added, but it'd be nice if that was a native feature for sure in Revit. And so now you can see I'm at my first floor plan that was not issued in the midterm.

We're only checking the box for final here. So just a few more to go here and we'll be set. You may notice that our sheet index is messed up now because what's happening is the filter that we used at our midterm can no longer accept the fact that those sheets both have final and midterm on there because the, when we say it equals something, it's an absolute.

And so we can easily fix that by going in and editing our sheet index. So I just went through and added the revision to all of those. And so what I'll do is I'll right click on my sheet index and say, edit schedule.

And I just simply need to go to filter and you can see it says filter by current revision equals, and then it says a, well, if I just say none here, cause I want all the sheets that have been created in the set to appear, then they'll all show up. And this goes back to kind of what we were talking about before, where I could have said appears in lists and just unchecked those ones, but I don't like doing that cause then I'd have to go back through and recheck them all. So I prefer using a filter over removing them from the sheet like this.

Now we have all of our revision set. We have all the information on our title blocks filled out cause that's what we have done in the previous lessons. So I'm going to save, and then we're going to get this thing ready to print to PDF.
