Mastering Revit Project Management: An Intermediate to Advanced Guide

Unlocking the Potential of BIM Project Management with Advanced Revit Techniques

Delve into the advanced concepts of Revit Project Management with the CAD Teacher VDCI series. This course aims to provide BIM managers and project managers with the tools to effectively run a BIM project, covering integrated models, class detection, and digital redlines.

Key Insights

  • The course, suitable for intermediate to advanced students, prioritizes interactive assignments and also includes discussion topics, reading assignments, and quizzes.
  • Key focus areas include implementing BIM on a project, creating local and central files, performing class detection within Revit, and techniques for creating digital redlines.
  • By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to explain the benefits of BIM throughout a project's lifecycle, demonstrate techniques for class detection, and produce high-quality digital redlines.

Note: These materials offer prospective students a preview of how our classes are structured. Students enrolled in this course will receive access to the full set of materials, including video lectures, project-based assignments, and instructor feedback.

Hello and welcome to the CAD Teacher VDCI Video Series for Revit Project Management. This class is an intermediate to advanced class, so students should have a good handle on the primary Revit concepts that were covered in BIM 101 and BIM 201, or you should have the equivalent experience. This class will be primarily based on in-class interactive assignments, but will also include discussion topics, reading assignments, and quizzes.

The first lesson will focus on BIM and design-build, and we will also discuss procedures for implementing BIM on a project and the techniques for incorporating consultant Revit files into an integrated model. Lesson 2 will focus on the creation of local and central files, dividing a project into worksets, and also adjusting the visibility and graphic overrides for our model and the LinkedIn Revit models. In Lesson 3, we are going to look at the options for how we can perform class detection within Revit, and in Lesson 4, we will look at the techniques necessary to efficiently create digital redlines.

The ultimate goal for this class is to provide BIM managers and project managers with the tools necessary to effectively and efficiently run a BIM project. At the end of this course, you will have the tools necessary to explain the benefits of BIM throughout the lifecycle of a project, create an integrated Revit model with Revit and other miscellaneous CAD files, demonstrate techniques for class detection in Revit, and produce high-quality digital redlines. In the next video, we will look at the role of the project manager and how it relates to a BIM project.
