Expanding Your Knowledge: Customizing Curtain Walls and Wall Shapes

Enhancing Wall Design with Customized Elements

Delve deeper into the art of modeling walls through this informative guide which explores the creation of a custom curtain wall system, with focus on custom panels and mullions. Additionally, learn how to enhance your designs by adding sweeps, reveals, and custom wall shapes using model-in-place component options.

Key Insights

  • The article explores the creation of a custom curtain wall system, including creating custom panels and mullions with different profiles.
  • Readers will learn how to add design features such as control joints and parapet caps through the use of sweeps and reveals.
  • The article further covers the creation of custom wall shapes using the tools available in the model-in-place component options, enhancing the customization possibilities for wall modeling.

Note: These materials offer prospective students a preview of how our classes are structured. Students enrolled in this course will receive access to the full set of materials, including video lectures, project-based assignments, and instructor feedback.

For this lesson, we're going to take a look at how we can expand upon our knowledge of modeling walls. One of the things that we'll do is we'll look at creating a custom curtain wall system where we have custom panels and custom mullions that have different profiles from being just a plain rectangular look. As you can see here, this one's got a bit of a taper to it.

Another thing we're going to do is we're going to take a look at how we can add sweeps and reveals to our walls to add things like Control Joints, like you see here, and also adding the Parapet Cap, which you can see here at the top of the wall. As we get further into the lesson, we're going to take a look at how we can create custom wall shapes by using the tools available to us within the 'Model In-Place' component options. The first thing we're going to do is focus on the curtain wall and see what we can do with our customization options.
