Understand the process of modeling a new building with focus on creating and organizing different sheets for the project, such as a title sheet, site plan, and campus plan. Learn the step by step process to generate these sheets, their numbering system and how to insert data rows to create placeholder sheets.
Key Insights
- The process of creating a new building model begins with creating the necessary sheets for the project, including the title sheet, site plan, and campus plan.
- These sheets are generated with a specific numbering system, starting with A000 for the title sheet, followed by A100 for the campus plan, and then A101 for the site plan.
- Placeholder sheets are created by inserting data rows, with further sheets like floor plans and roof plan being added as the project progresses.

Before we move on to our next part of this project, which is to model the new building, what I'd like to do is create the two sheets that we're going to use for our site plan and also create our title sheet here. We're going to go ahead and create our new sheets—we're going to have three new ones—and we're going to start with a title sheet and then work our way down. So let's go ahead, and while we're in Schedule mode, go to the View tab, Schedules, and make a sheet list; our sheet list is going to include a few items.
We want sheet number, sheet name, current revision, and current revision date. So that'll be our sheet list, and then we can go ahead, and like we did before in previous courses, we can add our data rows to create our placeholder sheet. So I'll create our first one here and it comes in as A001.
So I'll make,000, and that's going to be our title sheet, and then I'll go ahead and insert a data row again. This is going to be A100. This will be our campus plan, and then the next one will be A101, and this will be our site plan.
We'll have a few more sheets in here that we'll create, and those are going to be our floor plans. So that'll be A201—level one floor plan—and then level two floor plan, and we can create the last one for this set here, which will be our roof plan.
So I'll go ahead and save, and the two sheets that we need right off the bat are our campus plan and our site plan, but we'll circle back to create more sheets as we progress through the project.
