Creating a Blueprint for Success: Resolving Red Marks and Building a Cartoon Set

Navigating the Blueprint: Creating a Cartoon Set and Resolving Red Marks for Success

Explore the unique learning format of a course that not only includes standard lessons and exercises, but also a clear roadmap towards the midterm, using a set of drawings as a guide. The course methodology involves resolving all the indicated issues on the drawings, such as adding additional keynotes, graphic legends, dimensions or tags to work towards a complete midterm.

Key Insights

  • The course follows an engaging format that includes video lessons and a roadmap in the form of a set of drawings to guide students towards the midterm. The objective is to resolve all issues indicated by red marks on the drawings.
  • In addition to the existing sheets created in BIM 302, new sheets need to be created as part of the course tasks. These sheets, which might not necessarily have the content yet, map out the next lessons and create a task list for the learners.
  • The course material includes a PDF markup and sheets created in the model to give students a clear idea of the tasks that need to be generated for the upcoming lessons.

Note: These materials offer prospective students a preview of how our classes are structured. Students enrolled in this course will receive access to the full set of materials, including video lectures, project-based assignments, and instructor feedback.

This course is going to follow the same format we have been using for our previous courses, but one of the things that we're doing differently this time is that I'm still going to walk you through all the different exercises and assignments we're doing, but in addition to the video lessons, you're going to have a roadmap for how we get to the midterm, and that is going to be this set of drawings here. This is another file that's provided with the downloads, and as you can see as we flip through here, there are some sheets that have red marks on them, and so our assignment is going to be to resolve all of those red marks that need to be addressed, and so there's things like additional keynotes that we'll be adding, there are some other notes to add the graphic legends and some more dimensions or tags and things like that that need to be added, so that we can work toward a complete midterm. So that'll be the guide that we have to get our midterm complete, and then from there we'll jump into the final which will have some additional video lessons like we have done in our previous courses.

The first thing that we're going to do here though is we're going to create a cartoon set, so as you can see there are a lot of different sheets that are in here that were already created in BIM 302, and then we can take a look at the midterm, and you can see that there are more sheets that we have not created. Looking at the sheet index that we have on our title sheet, you can see that there's a handful of sheets at the end of the set that we have not created, and there's also a graphic symbols legend and some additional keynotes and things as we kind of flip through it, so just keeping in mind that that's going to be part of the stuff we're going to do over the next few lessons here. So the next thing that we're going to do here is create our cartoon set, and what I mean by that is we are going to go ahead and create the sheets that we have not created yet, even though we don't necessarily have the content for them, but we want to go ahead and map out our next few lessons so that we have the sheets ready to go, and it sort of creates a task list for ourselves so we know what to do.

So a combination of that PDF markup that is in the download and then also having all these sheets created in the model give us an idea of what needs to be generated for the next few lessons. In the next video we're going to go ahead and create that cartoon set by adding those missing sheets.
