Dive into the world of 3D design with Fusion and learn how to create engaging three-dimensional text. This article guides you through the process step-by-step, from finding the text tool to defining the bounds and selecting the font.
Key Insights
- The text tool is found under 'create sketch', where you draw on the ground plane to define the bounds of the text.
- Once the bounds are set, you can enter the text, adjust its height, and select the font, ideally a simple one like Arial for an effective extrude.
- After finalizing the text, the 'extrude command' is used to transform the text into a 3D shape.

Creating that revolve was a ton of fun. Let's go ahead and create some three-dimensional text. To do that, we'll go back to our home tab in Fusion and we'll create new for a new workspace.
Now the text tool is a little bit hidden. We start by going to the create sketch. Then we click our ground plane.
All of our sketch tools populate and we have the dropdown for sketch create. And there we find the text command. We click for our starting point for the text.
We'll click somewhere in the middle and we'll draw a box that defines the bounds of our text. Now we have the text options. I'll bring that right to the center.
Right now it says sample text, but we can put your name or anything you'd like to put. We can change the height and we can even change the font. Although I recommend avoiding really complex font.
It doesn't work so well for extrude. We wanna pick a fairly basic font like Arial and click okay. Once we have our text, we'll hit finish sketch.
Now we can use that extrude command again. E on our keyboard or the extrude command up here. We'll click on that text and simply drag it up into a 3D shape.
Easy peasy. All right, how cool is that? We've created a 3D text in just a couple of steps.
