## Overview

Elevate your MEP design skills with Revit Mechanical Design, a comprehensive course focused on mechanical system modeling and coordination using Revit. Designed for mechanical engineers, designers, and BIM professionals, this course covers the full workflow of mechanical systems, from initial project setup and worksharing through ductwork layout, equipment configuration, and system analysis.

Throughout the course, you’ll create, align, and replicate mechanical systems such as ducts, VAVs, rooftop units, exhaust systems, and kitchen hoods while refining airflow and duct connections. You’ll link architectural models, define spaces, coordinate systems across floors, resolve clashes, adjust ceiling and air distribution plans, and tag mechanical elements. The course also covers creating schedules and exporting detailed project sheets as PDFs for final submission.

## What you'll learn

- Learn to set up and manage mechanical systems in Revit MEP, starting with project setup and worksharing.
- Create, align, and replicate mechanical systems like ducts, VAVs, and rooftop units for proper airflow.
- Configure mechanical equipment, such as exhaust systems and kitchen hoods, and refine duct connections.
- Practice linking architectural models, defining spaces, and coordinating mechanical systems across floors.
- Resolve system clashes and adjust ceiling plans, supply terminals, and return air systems.
- Tag mechanical elements, create schedules, and export detailed project sheets as PDFs for final submission.

## Prerequisites

This course has a recommended prerequisite. You will need previous experience with Revit or to have taken our [Revit Course Online](https://vdci.edu/courses/revit-fundamentals-course).

## Instructors

### Katie Cortis — Instructor

Katie is a licensed Mechanical Engineer in the state of Missouri. She has 10 years of experience in the mechanical design and construction industry. She’s worked on a range of different projects including Industrial, Manufacturing, Healthcare and Data on both the engineering and construction side. She currently works for a mechanical contracting group that specializes in offsite construction. Katie manages projects through the full life cycle – from project development, construction in the fabrication shop, and turnover at the project site. Offsite construction requires fabrication level Revit models. These Revit models are output into product shop drawings which are fabricated in the local shop and shipped to project sites all over the country.
