Canonical URL: <https://vdci.edu/courses/intermediate-civil-3d-land-development>

## Overview

Land development takes more than knowing commands, and this Civil 3D course is built around how those tools are actually used on real projects. You’ll work with core land development elements in the Civil 3D environment, including drawing template files, data shortcuts, feature lines, grading groups, pipe networks, pressure networks, and paper space. The course is well suited for professional designers, engineers, contractors, and anyone looking to advance professionally or transition into CAD-driven roles by building practical Civil 3D skills.

Rather than treating each feature in isolation, the course emphasizes how everything connects in a complete workflow. You’ll create and manage Civil 3D object and label styles, develop a custom drawing template, and organize project data with data shortcuts. Instruction also covers creating and editing feature lines and grading groups, working with pipe and pressure parts catalogs, laying out and annotating pipe and pressure networks, and finishing the process by creating a polished custom drawing sheet ready for delivery.
