## Overview

AI for AEC Professionals is a project-based online course designed to take your AI skills well beyond the basics. Rather than focusing on simple prompting, this course guides you through the full construction project lifecycle, teaching you how to build real automation tools using Large Language Models, generative design algorithms, and Python-based scripting. You'll work through practical challenges at every stage of a project, from site feasibility and schematic design through construction management and post-occupancy, learning how to handle data cleaning, document digestion, and web-based tool deployment along the way.

The course culminates in a capstone project where you'll develop a fully functional web application tailored to the construction lifecycle. You'll tackle some of the most common pain points in the industry, including manual submittal logs, repetitive CAD tasks, and code compliance documentation, by building a custom automation tool designed for real office use. Students should come in with a basic familiarity with AEC software and digital file management, as well as a willingness to work in a Python environment. You'll move through the material at your own pace, applying what you learn directly to a project that builds with each lesson.

## What you'll learn

- Apply advanced prompting and scripting techniques to analyze and process AEC-specific documents and data sets.
- Create and manage automated workflows using Python and AI APIs within a professional firm context.
- Design and model project criteria using generative and iterative AI tools across multiple phases of the construction lifecycle.
- Develop professional-grade automation tools for bidding, proposal writing, and project management tasks.
- Build custom user interfaces designed for real-world, office-wide implementation and deployment.
- Utilize AI tools to perform data cleaning, document digestion, and multi-format data analysis on complex project materials.
- Generate and manage AI-driven project schedules, field reports, and real-time budget tracking tools.
- Produce a complete, portfolio-ready web application that demonstrates competency in AI-driven automation for the built environment.

## Prerequisites

Students should have basic familiarity with the Windows or Mac operating system, common AEC software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Procore, and spreadsheet tools like Excel. Fluency in written and spoken English is required, as all course instruction and communication will be conducted in English.
