## Overview

This program prepares students for entry-level roles as AI-Assisted Software Developers and Junior Software Engineers. Students build full-stack development skills while learning version control, testing, API and database design, and modern engineering workflows. AI tools are integrated throughout to help students write, debug, and improve maintainable applications.

The curriculum also covers secure development, continuous integration and deployment, software architecture, and systems thinking. Through labs, pair programming, code reviews, and a team capstone, students gain practical experience building and presenting a production-ready application. Graduates leave with a strong portfolio, collaborative experience, and career support.

### Who is the target audience for this course?

Veterans and service members seeking VA-approved training in AI-assisted software engineering, full-stack development, APIs, databases, and secure systems design. Those using GI Bill benefits to start or transition into a career as an AI-Assisted Software Developer or Junior Software Engineer. People drawn to working with AI tools and modern development workflows who want to launch or pivot into software engineering. Professionals who want to expand their technical skill set into full-stack development and system design.

### Does this certificate include job support?

In addition to 300 hours of interactive training, you will receive twelve 1-on-1 mentoring sessions that can be used for career and job support, including polishing your resume, preparing for interviews, and reviewing best practices for applying to jobs. Note, however, that we don’t provide job placement (i.e. reaching out to companies on your behalf).

### How do I register for a course using the GI Bill?

You can enroll in one of our eligible programs by completing the steps below: Select a program from our list of VA-Eligible Certificate Programs. Click "Apply Now" and complete the application. Have your resume and Certificate of Eligibility (COE) ready to upload as part of the application. (Veterans should also have a Joint Services Transcript (JST) and DD-214 ready; active-duty students should have a JST. You'll also need to provide proof of education, such as a high school diploma or GED equivalent.) Once your application is submitted, our Student Services team will schedule an admissions interview to review your information and go over the program's details and requirements. After you've met the admissions requirements, Student Services will collect your proof of education to complete your enrollment. Click “Place Order” to complete your registration. Prior to the start of the class, you will need to provide us with a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) in order for us to certify your enrollment with Veterans Affairs. This can be sent to admissions@vdci.edu. We will be in touch shortly after your registration to confirm additional information related to your registration.

### How do I register for a course using Chapter 31?

Please have your counselor submit a training authorization for one of our eligible programs through Tungsten. If they need assistance, they can email admissions@vdci.edu to connect about registration. Once the authorization has been submitted, you can then enroll in one of our eligible programs by completing the steps below: Select a program from our list of VA-Eligible Certificate Programs. Click "Apply Now" and complete the application. Have your resume and Certificate of Eligibility (COE) ready to upload as part of the application. ### Does VDCI accept Chapter 35?

Yes, all our VA Eligible Certificate Programs are eligible for Chapter 35. Please note that Chapter 35 payments will not necessarily cover the full cost of your program on their own, and most students need a separate source of funding to pay for their program. Learn more about Chapter 35 rates .

### How do I register for a course using Chapter 35?

You can register for one of our VA Eligible Certificate Programs using our standard student registration process. After you enter your payment details and check out, please email a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to admissions@vdci.edu . We will then certify your registration with the VA.

### I want to make sure my schedule will qualify me for full-time benefits. Can I check in advance?

Yes. Please email admissions@vdci.edu to have our School Certifying Official review your schedule and confirm whether you will be considered a full-time student.

### Can I attend multiple VA Eligible Certificate Programs at VDCI?

Yes! As long as your benefits cover it and you finish one program before starting the next, you are welcome to come back for more of our courses.

### May I use the GI Bill to enroll in two VA Eligible Certificate Programs at once?

No. You can attend two programs sequentially, but you cannot have two overlapping enrollments.

### Can I attend VDCI's self-paced courses using VA benefits?

Yes, our self-paced courses are approved by the VA.

### I have partial GI Bill benefits (90% or less). Can I still take classes at VDCI?

Yes. Please email admissions@vdci.edu when you register and let us know what percentage of benefits you have. We can either share a payment link where you can pay the balance on your tuition, or set up a payment plan if needed.

### Does VDCI accept VET TEC?

No, we are not eligible for VET TEC.

### I am eligible to have hardware and/or software funded by the VA through my Chapter 31 benefits. How do I find out what I'll need for my program at VDCI?

All of our VA Approved courses require access to a PC or Mac (laptop or desktop). Required software is listed on the course pages. Please note that while we can provide general tech requirements, we cannot provide information on pricing, purchasing options, or options and/or recommendations for equipment not included in our general tech requirements.

### Is this course open to beginners?

Yes, this course is open to beginners. Students must be comfortable using a computer. No other prior knowledge is required.

### Do you offer payment plans or student financing for this course?

### How long do I have access to the course materials?

This program is available for 150 days. You can choose when to start your access period. Once you activate, you will have 150 days to complete it (access the course materials, quizzes, projects and videos). You may request one extension of seven (7) days. Other extension requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Videos are not downloadable.

### Are there any additional fees or expenses?

There are no extra fees or taxes for our courses. The price you see on this page is the maximum you’ll pay us. However, you may need to obtain required software. We’ll help you get set up with a free trial of paid software prior to the class. Most of our coding classes utilize freely-available open-source software. For most of our design and motion graphics courses, we will help you get set up with a free trial of Adobe Creative Cloud. If you attend the course in-person, we will have a computer already set up for you with all of the required software for no additional cost.
